Kicking It Off With Footwear
Balenciaga, Diesel, Axel Arigato
This season at Selfridges, the heels that stood out to me were Rene Caovilla’s iconic crystal-embellished styles, which create the effect of a cascading diamond waterfall. Gianvito Rossi’s brown transparent mules also caught my eye, giving off a classy ‘90s vibe. But the standout for the holiday season has to be Steve Madden’s Bellarosa bow-embellished heels, shown in the second slide. I’d pair these with a simple bodycon dress.
When it comes to trainers, I stick to my favorites: Balenciaga, Lanvin, Axel Arigato, and Rick Owens. However, Diesel surprised me this season with their modern take on sneakers, which is a departure from their usual ‘golf’ or ‘logo-heavy’ style.
The camouflage references, futuristic designs, and use of multiple colors have really caught my attention. In my opinion, this is a big improvement over their previous designs, which didn’t always resonate with the modern consumer.
2nd Stop Womens
Loewe, Moncler, Alexander Wang
This womens Moncler sequin coat has stirred up some controversy on the internet. Is the embelleshment too much? Other brands that stood out to me on my browse were PH5, Marine Serre and Loewe. The structure, shape and weight of all the pieces eluded luxury. Embellishment must be a thing, as diamanté lettering was seen featured on the Alexander Wang crop top referenced in slide 3 and Coach's embellished mini handbag in slide 5.
Final Stop Mens
Jacquemus, Icecream, Loewe
My stand out brands for a classy menswear is Prada, Rick Owens and Bottega. Alternatively if you are looking for a chic streetwear fit I would reccomend Icecream, Members Of The Rage, and Erl for there colourful and fun prints. Casablanca is always a go to for beachwear but Prada offers a slick black alternative to summer wear. In store I particularly loved the intelligent detailed use of branding on Jacquemus pieces- like the one shown in slide one. As always the 3d textures of Loewe's clothing makes it all the more luxurious to the touch..
